A man’s broad back is meant to bear the weight
of his people’s misfortune with innate
discernment as to who his people are.

to prove where concern cut him to the vein.
Though some may struggle with this load in vain
more gravitas attaches to their stare
than to the eyes of those without such cares.
Pretentious boys like to affect a pose
where those distant in blood outweigh those close
but never buckle under fake concern.
A man saves kin from evolution’s urn. –

just fear of manliness in the effete.
