Why They Despise Us

Those who should be most grateful seem to hate us the most.

I have a theory: I think persons of color who have benefited most from life in the United States who have the greatest contempt for white people. I’ll give you some examples.

Have you heard of Kizzmekia Shanta Corbett, here on the right with President Trump and Dr. Fauci. So far as I can tell, her life has been one of pure privilege and advantage. She had all expenses paid at the University of Maryland through the Meyerhoff Scholars program, which is supposed to “increase diversity among future leaders in science, engineering, and related fields.” She got scholarships to get her through her PhD at the University of North Carolina Chapel-Hill without a penny in student debt. She had one fancy fellowship after another and is now leading the team at NIH looking for a vaccine for the Coronavirus.

She tweets as KizzyPhd.

Her tweets are now private, but Tucker Carlson tracked some down. She had a twitter exchange about Covid patients with another user who wrote: “People will be turned away or left to die because they are black.” Kizzy replied: “Yep. Both.”

She had this exchange with a black person who wrote: “They hate us. This virus is a sure-fire way to get rid of us without having to lift a finger. Kizzy replied: “Some have gone as far to call it genocide. I plead the fifth.

Kizzy is at the top levels of American medical science. And she thinks the virus could be attempted genocide? If she thinks the virus was made to kill black people, wouldn’t that be an awfully urgent reason to find a vaccine. Well, she has other motives. She tweeted this: “Last yr, I took *17* trips. This year, I have cancelled bucket list vacations (Netherlands, Spain, Jamaica, Greece). This the reason ‘millennials’ should be fighting for research funding for future pandemics.” We need a vaccine so she can take a vacation in Greece — while you stay home and work off your college debt.

Now, meet Kara Walker. The New York Times calls her “a towering figure, an African-American visual artist who has achieved unparalleled global success.” She is best known for black cut-out silhouettes big enough to fill a room. This one is at the Tate Modern in London. When she turned her hand to sculpture in 2014, the New York Times called this 75-foot-long naked black woman “a defining work of the decade.”

Her life has been smooth sailing. Her father was the chairman of the art department at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California., At age 27, was the second youngest person ever to get a MacArthur Foundation “genius” award.

She has won countless prizes, and has taught at Columbia University since 2002. In 2007, she was one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people, along with Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Osama bin Laden.

She’s on display in the top museum. And she does well for herself. This little effort was expected to fetch between $2 and $3 hundred thousand dollars at auction.

But she can’t stand white people. Two years ago, this is how she introduced herself to people who attended her one-woman show at a fancy New York gallery:

How many ways can a person say racism is the real bread and butter of our American mythology? My right, my capacity to live in this Godforsaken country as a (proudly) raced and (urgently) gendered person is under threat by random groups of white (male) supremacist goons. . . And that was just getting started.

You find the same thing in Britain. In 1993, this guy, Stephen Lawrence was stabbed to death by a group of whites one of whom reportedly used the N-word. Stephen Lawrence is now, believe it or not, a national hero.

There is a Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, “founded on the premise that inequality must be tackled in all its forms.” A play about him called “The Colour of Justice” was performed onstage *and* made into a BBC broadcast special. There is a memorial plaque where he was killed. Because Lawrence wanted to be an architect, there is an annual Stephen Lawrence Prize awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

There is a Stephen Lawrence Center that is supposed to help disadvantaged youth pursue creative careers.

Stephen Lawrence’s mother, who used to work in a bank, has been elevated to the peerage. She is now Baroness Lawrence, and sits in the house of lords. Here are the future king and queen of England paying their respects. In 2014, the BBC named the baroness Britain’s most influential woman.

Here she is, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Stephen Lawrence Research Center. It will be “a place where national conversations on race and social justice should start.” The Baroness got a four-minute standing ovation.

In 2018, Baroness Lawrence was the guest of honor at the 25^th anniversary memorial of her son’s killing. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were there with Prime Minister Theresa May. The prime minister announced that henceforth, April 22^nd, the day the young man was, killed, will be memorialized as “Stephen Lawrence Day.”

The baroness isn’t satisfied. Last year she was on television talking about the 2017 fire at Grenfell Tower in London. 250 firemen and 70 fire engines and 100 ambulance crews from all over London fought this fire. The first were on the scene in six minutes.

That wasn’t enough. She said she had “no doubt” the response to the inferno that killed 72 people was motivated by racism. “”Had that been a block full of white people, they’d have done everything to get them out as fast as possible,” she said.

And let’s not forget Ilhan Omar, Congresswoman from Minnesota. She was born in Somalia, which is such a miserable place that at least 3 million Somalis have left the country. She came to the US as a refugee when she was 10 years old. She got a college education, served on the board the Minnesota Legal Rights Center and the YMCA, and was elected to Congress in 2018 at age 36. The day she was sworn in, Congress lifted a 181-year-old ban on headgear just so she could wear a hijab on the floor of the house.

Is she grateful for this a start on life? Nope. Here’s a typical tweet: “Our nation was founded by genocide and we maintain global power through neocolonialism.”

Last year, when Congress voted 405 to 11 to condemn the Turkish genocide against Armenians, she was the only Democrat to vote no. Why? Because she refused to criticize a foreign country unless the United States were criticized, too, specifically, as she put, it for “mass slaughters like the transatlantic slave trade and Native American genocide.” She dismissed what happened on Sept. 11 as “some people did something.”

Can you imagine escaping from one of the worst countries on earth to one of the most welcoming and generous? And then talking like this? I won’t go into her many corruption scandals, but It took a British paper to get the bottom of this story: Ilhan Omar DID marry her brother and said she would ‘do what she had to do to get him “papers” to keep in in the U.S.’ A sham marriage to her brother so he could stay in the United States. Why did she want him in this racist, genocidal, imperialistic, country?

The French cartoonist Chard caught this brilliantly. “Let’s go be oppressed,” say the immigrants as they scamper into white countries.

And then there is Sairo Rao. She is the daughter of Indian immigrants — both doctors. Very comfortable childhood. She went to the top school in the Virginia, UVA, attended a top law school, got a plum clerkship on the court of appeals, and went to the prestigious Wall Street law firm, Cleary Gottlieb.

But she wasn’t satisfied. As she told an Indian paper, “Wall Street wasn’t for me. I needed to be in the community; I wanted to make a social impact.” So, she just walked away from what many would call a dream career.

She helped start a company called In This Together to package “diverse” children’s books by “diverse” authors“ — like these people.

In college, most of her friends were white and she was a liberal. In 2016, she published a letter to the Huffington Post about how much she loved the Democrats: “The first vote I ever cast, at 18, was for Bill Clinton. The last vote I cast was for his wife, Hillary. My adoration for Hillary bordered on mania. In college, I named my ficus plant after her. Twenty years later, I canvassed, held fundraisers, dragged my 8-year-old daughter door to door, proudly wore HRC’s face on T-shirts and housed campaign volunteers in my home.

In 2018, she ran in the Democrat primary for a congressional seat from Denver — and lost 70 / 30 — to a white woman. Now she hates white people. Here’s a headline: ‘Both parties are mired in white supremacy,’ says ex-candidate in Denver facing threats over tweet.” The tweet? That “Sairo Rao had given up on white people.” 

She sure has. Here are more tweets: “White people have done everything to make my life miserable. Yet I’m supposed to not hate white people?”

The American flag makes me sick.

Here’s another: “White folks quoting the “founding fathers” (in scare quotes) as if they weren’t genocidal colonizers.”

Well, she’s getting her revenge now. She and a black woman named Regina Jackson started something called Race to Dinner. They charge white women $2,500 to invite them to dinner for a face-to-face lecture on racism. Their website starts with this: “White women: let’s talk about your racism and your complicity.” White *men* aren’t allowed at these dinners because Miss Rao and Miss Jackson have written off everyone of them as unsalvageable.

So here they are, about to be served dinner by a blonde lady and her friends. According to the Race2Dinner website, they will be told: “You are an active participant in upholding white supremacy.”

It will be an exciting evening. Here is the sign-up page: “Interested in hosting a dinner? Click here to smash your white fragility.”

As it says here: “So you are willing to set aside your white woman tears?” In other words, “We’re going to make you cry.”

Last month, Miss Rao announced she has a deal with Penguin/Random House to write a book to explain to white women how they are upholding white supremacy.”

If you can make a good living hectoring white people about racism, and top companies publish your bellyaching about white supremacy, you don’t live in a white supremacist country. Period.

Why do people who have had everything handed to them despise white people? Is it because we *have* handed them everything? How can you not despise white people who pay you to be told how vile they are.

What do these two really think? After they make white women cry, do they go home and cackle with glee at the incredible racket they have got going? Or do they truly believe that they are battling oppression with every breath?

Does Sairo Rao really believe that white children get a billion passes that children of color do not? She says this as a former Brown child and a parent of Brown children. Are we supposed to think if she were white, she would President of the United States, have won the Nobel Prize, and be Miss America?

And what about the Baroness? She has been lathered with honors to within an inch of her life, but she says firemen who risked their lives were racists who couldn’t be bothered to save non-white people. Does she really believe that? Or has she learned that this is the sort of thing elite white people like to hear about blue-collar whites? One thing is for sure: White people would stop petting her if she stopped yelling about racism.

But I don’t blame these women. They know that no matter how much they benefit from living with white people rather than in India or Africa, they should never express gratitude. They should never be grateful. There’s no payoff. Can you name one person of color who makes a career out of loving America or admiring white people? You get ahead by heaping scorn in America and acting as though every white person you ever met was a beast.

These people have discovered a fantastically profitable weakness in white people. Many whites — white power and money — love being told white people are racist, and the more they hear this, the more they are determined to prove that *they aren’t* racist. And if you’re a person of color, and you’re dealing with white people who want — more than anything on earth — to prove they’re not racist, whoa, the sky is the limit: If you’re British, you could end up in the House of Lords. Who can blame them?

No, the problem is white people. White people who can be conned into thinking that they uphold white supremacy just be breathing, who are like whipped dogs: the more you kick them, the harder they wag their tails.

Thank God, more and more white people are wise to this hustle. It will stop only when we stop falling for it. We better stop soon.
